Blues Legacies and Black Feminism by Angela Y. Davis, a study diving in to the feminist impact of 20th century Jazz Singers, Gertrude “Ma” Rainey, Bessie Smith, and Billie Holiday. They famously progressed Jazz music by authentically expressing their womanhood. Davis; discusses and highlights their social contributions these artists had on the development of Western-American civilisation.

Whilst approaching my essay, I really appreciate building the foundation of my essay on the first pioneers of popular music.
